Denim is easily one of my favorite fabrics. It's always been the go-to, for any occasion. Digging up weeds in the garden with my Mom at age 11? Done. Hiking Maroon Bells with my family at age 18? Perfect. Getting everything all over myself during oil-painting class in college? I'd trust no other fabric. Wanting to feel sexy, or tough, or relaxed, or all of the above? Denim always works - there's a version for every mood.
This weekend I wore the classic Canadian Tuxedo for a day of running around Cole Valley and the Haight in San Francisco.
These jeans are the Fleetwood by Citizens of Humanity, and I adore them. Very high waisted, very stretchy & comfortable. My only complaint, which has nothing to do with the jeans themselves, is figuring out what shoe to wear with them. The trick of a flare is finding a heel heigh that lets the bottom of the bell sit exactly on top of the floor. If it's too high off the floor, your shoes look dis-proportioned and the flare will become less dramatic. If they're too low on the floor, they'll get filthy and they'll read very "Class of 2003".
These boots are my only shoe that is the right heel height - plus, they're old, beat up, and trusty, so they feel like a perfect match for all the denim.
